World: Europe Swiss accuses Raul Salinas on drug trafficking

The Swiss authorities say more than one-hundred-million dollars of drugs money was deposited in Swiss banks by the brother of the former Mexican president, Carlos Salinas. They are confiscating the money, which they believe was part of a much larger amount paid to Raul Salinas for helping Mexican and Colombian drugs cartels during his brother’s six-year term ending in 1994. However, the Swiss say they will leave it to Mexico to press charges against Mr Salinas, who is currently in jail there. He maintained he was legally heading an investment fund for Mexican businessmen. Source : news.bbc.co.uk |
