The United Nations Security Council says it is concerned about the use of parts of Taleban-controlled Afghanistan for the cultivation of drugs and what it calls the shelter and training of terrorists. But a meeting in New York welcomed the progress being made by the UN special envoy to Afghanistan, Lakhdar Brahimi, in improving the human rights situation there. The Security Council also praised the envoy’s efforts to end fighting between factions in Afghanistan and well as Afghanistan’s border tensions with Iran. Source : news.bbc.co.uk |
