Six in region indicted on drug distribution charges

A federal grand jury returned an 18-count indictment last week against six people accused of having distributed illegal drugs in Sacramento, Yuba and Sutter counties. The indictment accuses Charles Gooden, 23, of Yuba City; Ronnie James Williams, 22, of Marysville; Charles Demario Johnson, 29, and Derence Lamont Jordan, 25, of North Highlands; Travis Davis, 37, of Sacramento; and Aimee Lee Cox, 36, of Marysville, with conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine base over a 15-month period, according to a news release by the office of U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott. The indictment charges that from Aug. 28, 2006, to Oct. 17, Gooden, Williams, Johnson and Cox conspired to distribute, and possessed with the intent to distribute, controlled substances in Yuba City and elsewhere. The indictment also charges that from Sept. 4 through Oct. 17, Williams, Jordan and Davis conspired to distribute, and possessed with the intent to distribute, cocaine base in Sacramento County and elsewhere. The case is the result of a joint investigation by the FBI, the Yuba-Sutter Narcotic Enforcement Team and other local and state law enforcement agencies. If found guilty, the defendants could face a maximum sentence of life in prison, the release states. Source : sacbee.com |
