The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Todd P. Graves, announced Monday that an Independence police officer pleaded guilty to attempting to sell anabolic steriods to another officer. Timothy M. Kamer, 29, pleaded guilty before a U.S. district judge to attempting to distribute anabolic steroids, a schedule III controlled substance. Kamer was charged in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury on Sept. 11, 2002. Kamer was suspended from his job as a police officer with the Independence Police Department. According to Graves, Kamer approached a fellow officer in the department last February, and attempted to sell him anabolic steroids to enhance the officer’s bodybuilding. Kamer apparently agreed to obtain steroids from a source in St. Louis for $450. Although Kamer allegedly accepted the $450 payment, he later told the officer that he was unable to obtain the steroids from his source. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled, but Graves’ office said Kamer could face up to five years in prison without parole. More : kmbc.com |
