Partnership’ Would Battle Drug Trafficking in Mexico

The Bush administration, after a see-saw budget battle, appears back on a path toward asking Congress for significant new assistance to help Mexico battle drug trafficking impacting the U.S. border. White House officials cautioned tonight that a final decision had not yet been made, but the State Department was optimistic that about $500 million will be included in a pending foreign aid request related to Iraq, Afghanistan and the larger war against terror.
