Two Wilson men wanted on drug manufacturing charges were arrested Thursday night when lawmen found them allegedly “cooking” another batch of methamphetamine. Carter County Undersheriff Earl Russell said Chad Brown, 25, and Jerry Butler, 31, were taken into custody at a travel trailer parked near Hewitt Cemetery. Both men were wanted on warrants charging them with being involved in the operation of another drug lab uncovered a week ago in rural Wilson. Brown and Butler were both arrested without incident. “We had been actively looking for them,” Russell said. “Thursday afternoon, Wilson police officers located the vehicle they were known to be driving at the travel trailer.” Deputies and Wilson officers converged on the house a short time later. “As officers approached, they became very aware of the odor that indicates the presence of a drug lab,” Russell said.
