SOLAN: The manner in which a Solanbased pharmaceutical firm has been manufacturing medicines illegally has put a question mark on the state drug controller’s role. Investigations by Times News Network reveal that the department has been adopting different yardsticks for pharmaceutical firms in the district and elsewhere in the state. Sources say that MDC Pharmaceuticals Limited, a drug manufacturing firm in Saproon, was manufacturing a sex stimulant drug since April 2001, though the permission for the same was procured as late as May 2002. The NOC for the manufacture of these tablets was acquired from the Central Drug Licensing Authority (DLA) in September 2001 while the permission was granted in November 2001. A perusal of the company records by TNN showed that the permission was granted only for export, with the NOC clearly stating, that the medicine will be manufactured here. The firm had already started manufacturing the medicine prior to the grant of the NOC and had also been selling it in the domestic market. More : timesofindia.indiatimes.com |
