G.I. man sentenced to more than 10 years for drug distribution conspiracy

BODY:A Grand Island man was sentenced to 10 years, one month in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine. Roberto Mendoza, 31, also known as Juan, Tony and Antonio, of 317 W. Sixth St., was convicted of conspiracy to distribute meth between January 1998 and June 2002 in Nebraska. He was held responsible for distributing between 5 kilograms and 15 kilograms of the drug in Grand Island, Kearney, Clarks and Lincoln. He also sold a half pound of meth from his Grand Island home to an individual who was cooperating with law enforcement on Dec. 7, 2000. Mendoza was also assessed more than $3,000 in court costs because he failed to plead until the day of the trial. A second count of possession of 50 grams or more of meth with the intent to distribute for the Dec. 7, 2000, incident was dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Source : theindependent.com |
