G.I. man sentenced for drug distribution

A Grand Island man was sentenced in U.S. District Court this week to more than four years in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, U.S. District Attorney Michael Heavican announced. Chief U.S. District Court Judge Richard Kopf sentenced Roberto Reyes, aka Jorge Rodriguez, 26, on Tuesday. He was sentenced to four years, nine months in prison for distributing meth between Feb. 1, 2002, and May 19, 2003. Reyes conspired with several others to distribute 414 grams of meth and 127 of cocaine in the Grand Island area. Reyes faced 40 years in prison, a $2 million fine, four years supervised release and a $100 special assessment for the charge. His conviction was the result of an investigation by the Tri-Cities Drug Task Force, including: The Grand Island, Hastings and Kearney police departments; FBI; Nebraska State Patrol; Hall, Adams and Buffalo county sheriff’s offices; IRS; Hall County attorney’s office; and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
