Australian model gets light sentence in Bali for drug possession

A district in Bali on Friday sentenced Australian woman Michelle Leslie, 24, to three months in prison for possessing two ecstasy pills. Presiding judge I Made Sudia said Lee had violated Article 60 of Law No.5/1997 on psychotropic. The sentence was equal to the prosecution’s demand, reported the Antara news agency. The underwear model was nabbed at the entrance of the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) resort hill on Aug. 20 and was found to be in possession of the pills. Both Leslie’s lawyer Cristo Emanuel Dugis and the prosecutors accepted the verdict. As she already spent three months in police custody, Leslie is expected to walk free on Saturday. Leslie’s sentence is in a sharp contrast to that of compatriot Schapelle Corby, who got a 20-year imprisonment in May for smuggling 4.2 kg of marijuana to the resort island.
