A 24-year-old Ardmore man who pleaded guilty in December to drug possession and two drive-by shootings, was sentenced Wednesday to 23 years in a state prison. Bronya Kareen Todd appeared in court before Associate District Judge Lee Card. Asking for leniency, Todd told Card he was “really not a bad person,” and rationalized the dual drive-by shooting incidents as response to anger. Card ordered Todd to serve 10 years each on the two use of a vehicle to discharge a weapon convictions and an additional three years on the drug (marijuana) possession conviction. The sentences are to be served consecutively. Todd will be required to serve 85 percent of each of the 10 year sentences before he will be eligible for parole. It was a fact Card told him he considered before handing down his sentence ruling. Ironically, Todd never managed to wounded anyone during his shooting sprees but was wounded himself in a gunplay incident in March. He was shot three times during a home invasion at a southeast side residence. Todd was arrested numerous times in 2004 and faced a number of additional drug possession and distribution charges and child endangerment charges in Carter County. Assistant District Attorney Johnny Loard said Wednesday prosecutors dismissed the other charges as a result of his guilty pleas. Todd and his girlfriend, Judy Petties, were also arrested on narcotics charges in June in Texas. The couple were released from custody after posting bond. Efforts to report the disposition of that case was unsuccessful. Source : ardmoreite.com |
